The impressions we make on students the first two weeks of school will live with them for the rest of the year (one of my friends says this every year). What impression did you make? Are you a caring teacher? I can only hope that the impression sent out the first two weeks of school was positive. My students are settled into the routine of my classroom, and they feel confident enough to raise their hand and answer a question on week three. I can only assume that the rapport built last year was strong enough that their relationship with me gives them confidence to attempt and succeed in my class.
What rapport are you building with others?

I'm looking forward to seeing more posts. How is the rapport building going? I always find myself wondering if my impressions are correct, or if there's an entire other reality for my students that I'm not seeing. How about you?
ReplyDeleteThe rapport building is going really well. I have found that the students feel that they can achieve anything in my class because of the relationship we have built. I currently have a student that my colleagues think is "scattered" and a behavior issue, yet I find her to be frustrated with herself. I feel that first impressions can be off. Perhaps not all of the time, but sometimes they are.
